What's the aim?

Over the past few years, same-sex marriage and equality have been hot topics both politically and socially. In 2017, same-sex marriage is still only legally accepted in 22 countries around the world. There are still lots of countries where even being gay is a crime.  We explore the various issues raised from the debate such as gender roles and the part social media can play for the LGBT community. This opened up the debate further and we have investigated different perspectives and attitudes both for and against same-sex marriage in both the UK, China and further afield. Our initial expectations were that opinions towards homosexuality and same-sex relationships would be mostly positive. However, after further research and interviews with individuals, the story has led to the conclusion that despite perceived progress for the LGBT community there is still a lot of stigma and disapproval worldwide to homosexuality and same-sex marriage. We decided to name the project 'for better or for worse' as a way of portraying that there are two sides to the topic.
